Construction has started on the first residential piece of the Chisholm Creek development. The 287-unit multifamily project will take about two years, said Gary Brooks, a developer on the project.  Brooks is working with Texas-based developer Charlie Nicholas, whose company, NE Construction, is also the general contractor...In total, the project is expected to cost about $40 million...Brooks said he’s excited about the location of their current project in Chisholm Creek. He said he’s lived in the area since 1980 and expects the Memorial corridor, especially near Pennsylvania Avenue and May Avenue, to be a hotbed of activity for many years. This is his first project in the area, though he has built in Edmond.

“(Chisholm Creek) is really a lifestyle development that needs and feeds off a lot of fun stuff going on around it,” he said. “There aren’t a ton of walkabout districts in the suburbs. I believe the developers could do what they’re trying to do, which is create a fun, walkable district in the suburbs of Oklahoma City. I knew it was an area we should be a part of.”
